Split and Zagreb - October 23-25, 2018

We are in transit, slowly making our way home. We decided to ease our way out of Croatia with a night in Split and Zagreb. SPLIT It was only an hour ferry ride to get out of Hvar and into Split. This port city is beautiful and much more friendly on the wallet. We stayed at a small apartment in the old town and walking distance to the port. Beautiful old town buildings There was a large market only a few blocks from our place. They had everything from food to clothes and trinkets. One of our best purchases was a hunk of salami, cheese and a quarter of a giant loaf of bread. By giant I mean about 2 feet in diameter. Meat, cheese and bread We walked through the Diocletian's Palace, an ancient fortress-like complex built for a roman emperor that now mainly houses shops, cafes and homes. We also heavily contemplated touring Froggyland. The only of it's kind, this museum boasts more than 500 taxidermy frogs posed in dioramas depicting ancestry life. I k...

Hvar, Croatia - October 10-23, 2018

Welcome to the beautiful island of Hvar! And the gorgeous view from our living room window... We arrived on the ferry at night into the port and it was stunning. The ferry ride went very well. They boys could run around and we met two amazing ladies from England who were on their way to Split as well as a family from Bradford (only she was Peruvian and he was from Montreal). Apparently the small port town gets inundated with young tourists and Croatians, prices sky rocket and walking through the town is almost impossible and unpleasant (this from the guy who rented up our paddleboards). We made many plans, some of ...

Dubrovnik, Hrvatska - October 7-10, 2018

Best travel day yet! Likely because it was a domestic flight and a quick hour and a bit, but still. Everything went smoothly, for once. The Dubrovnik airport is very organized and it's easy to figure out public transit and transfers. Maybe we're just finally getting the hang of this whole travel day thing.... Dalmatian Coast Archie jet setter We settled into our airbnb which is in Lapad, the "new part" of Dubrovnik. It's home to Sunset beach, which is a very  popular tourist spot apparently. Thanks to this, the entire walkway is littered with overpriced food and bars. We had our first mistake....I mean meal there. It was disgusting and cost twice as much as anything in Italy. View from our terrace Luke enjoying a tasty can of Pipi (carbonated McDonald's orange drank) We quickly set out to check out old town the next day. We decided to walk from Lapad with the boys to old town, it took us about 40 mins. It's massive and intact s...
